Hello to all my 30 something subscribers! :)
I’m tuning in from NY, where I’ve been for the last 3 weeks or so. Per usual I have a million things I want to write and share about, but I’ve kept quite busy running around my favorite city with my favorite people.
I lived here for ~14 years before moving to Europe in Jan. 2023, and every time I come back it feels like I never left. There’s nothing like the instant burst of energy and inspiration that I get from NY. The people watching, the parks, the style, the culture, the community…my cup feels so full.
In the spirit of soaking up my last week here I thought I’d share something quick and easy — a few of my favorite things from this month. So, without further adieu, let’s get into it:
Haus Label concealer: I’ve never been loyal to a concealer, but this one will definitely be a repeat purchase. Many months ago I complimented the receptionist at my hair salon in NY on her flawless skin, to which she immediately replied that her secret was Haus Lab concealer (she looked like she had no makeup on btw). Sadly I had just purchased the Nars concealer, which took me many months to use up. I finally got around to buying it during this trip and am not disappointed. I apply it directly after my moisturizer or sunscreen so I’m not applying it on dry skin and then I dab it in with a damp beauty blender. Lately, I’ve been into wearing only a little concealer on my face, and I tend to find that concealers that have any real coverage don’t look natural against my bare skin. This one does both.
Davines Nourishing Vegetarian Miracle Conditioner: Another tip from my hair salon. I’m growing out a pixie cut and went to visit Shelby (the queen of curls) for a reshape. Prior to this visit I was using a bar of soap as shampoo and no conditioner. When I told her of my routine, or lack thereof, she informed me that this is the reason for my crazy hair days I was complaining about. Shelby and all my curly haired friends informed me that conditioner is key for good curls (a good reason why you need your girlfriends around). Needless to say I left the salon with a new conditioner and it’s been a game changer. It’s so nourishing, and a little goes a very long way. According to the reviews I’ve seen everyone else loves it too.
Thrifted Black cargo shorts: When visiting my parents in NJ I visited the closest goodwill for a little thrifting.I left with at least 10-12 items for $50, one of my favorites being a pair of men’s cargo shorts a few sizes too big that I scored for $1.99. I’ve easily worn them every other day since, making their cost per wear pennies. I’ve worn them with pointed boots, flats, sneakers, baby tees, sweaters, you name it, and every time several people ask where I got them from. It easily adds a point of interest to a basic outfit, plus it’s so comfortable and breathable in the heat. I recommend searching men’s cargos on Depop or your local thrift store. Buy them oversized and simply sinch with a belt.

CouCou Baby Tee: I mentioned that I had ordered these in a previous post, and can confirm that they live up to the hype. I ordered the two pack, which comes with a black and white tee and have one of them on most days. It’s the perfect weight and shape. Plus I love that it’s not too cropped. I’m 5’8” and it hits right at my belly button, leaving just a tiny bit of skin peeking through between my pants and top. I’m normally a size 2/small and ordered the XS as I wanted it fitted.
Outlander: This is random, and I know I’m late to the party, but I’m obsessed! I’m only half way through the series (there’s 7 seasons so far) and I can’t stop. I will admit that season three goes downhill from how good season one and two were, but I’m still watching.
That’s all for now, thank you for reading!!
Until next time xxx
Omg Kelly I’m also recently obsessed with outlander 😂
